According to tech site Android Headline’s sources, the second iteration of the Pixel will be the first device to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 system-on-a-chip. The report runs counter to previous rumors saying that the Google Pixel 2 will be powered by the Snapdragon 836. However, we think that this new info is plausible, given that the original Pixel was the first to get the Snapdragon 821.
The 836 is expected to feature battery life improvements and higher peak GPU and CPU clock speeds than Qualcomm’s current latest and greatest. It will be an incremental update to the Snapdragon 835 chip, just like what the 821 was to the 820, but we’ll take any improvements over none any day.

Word has it that as with last year’s Pixel, there will be two versions of Google’s upcoming phone. The smaller Pixel 2 is said to sport a 4.97-inch 1080p AMOLED display, stereo speakers (at the expense of the 3.5mm headphone jack, unfortunately), 4GB of RAM, and at least 64GB of internal storage.
The Google Pixel XL 2, on the other hand, will supposedly have a larger, 5.99-inch 1440p OLED screen with small bezels, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of built-in memory, though Google might offer other storage options. On the back is a two-tone glass and metal finish; however, the glass does not enclose the fingerprint reader anymore.
Both are expected to arrive in October, so it won’t be long before we see how these rumors hold up.
