To be offered in gold, rose gold, and black with a matte finish (similar to that of the Apple iPhone 7), the A57 will retail at P11,990 (around $242) when it arrives in local stores later this month. By contrast, the upgraded OPPO F1s with more memory is priced at P13,990 ($282) and the F3, at P15,990 ($323).
Southeast Asian countries that already have it are Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, and the phone is selling there for SG$359 (P12,876 or $260), ฿7,990 (P11,657 or $235), and ₫5,490,000 (P11,966 or $242), respectively.
The OPPO A57 boasts form and design elements similar to the F3, only smaller and thus, more comfortable to hold and use. The LCD display measures 5.2 inches, while the resolution is nothing out of the ordinary at 720 x 1,280 pixels. A 2,900mAh battery is pretty sizable for a 5-incher, and it powers the entire assembly and should last you at least a full day, even with moderate to heavy use.
Inside, expect a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor with eight CPU cores and 3GB of RAM for seamless multitasking. We liked the performance for the price of the Cherry Mobile Flare X2, which has an older Snapdragon 430 chip; no doubt the 435 can do better, even if only by a bit. The 32GB of expandable storage, meanwhile, will be enough for the average user.
The OPPO A57’s biggest draw, however, is a 16-megapixel, front-facing camera with a bigger pixel size and a wider aperture than most in the segment for better shots in low light. So, yes, you’re still looking at a #SelfieExpert — but this time in a handier form factor and at a more palatable price.
