It’s about time, really. After all, it’s been nine months since the mobile operating system was officially released. And by the end of this week, everyone will finally get to see the developer preview of Google’s next OS update, Android O.
The Firefly Mobile Aurii Dream One is priced at only P2,699 or roughly $54, so expect that compromises have been made here. For one, the company has only mentioned a quad-core processor — no exact details — and when that happens, it’s usually because the chip is not from Qualcomm. Or how about that its RAM is only 1GB, so expecting the phone to rock in the multitasking department is like asking for a miracle? Or that the company only stated that “storage is expandable to 32GB,” and there’s no mention of the internal storage (yes, because it’s small, most likely)?

What we like about handsets like this is its very purpose: to give everyone a chance to own a smartphone and consequently provide them with access to basic phone features and internet connectivity.

Anyhow, we digress. The Firefly Mobile Aurii Dream One seems like a decent handset for its price. For less than P3,000 ($60), you already get a 5-inch LCD display with a Dragontrail glass for scratch resistance, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front camera with LED flash, a 2,100mAh battery, and support for two SIM cards. Those are besides Android Nougat, of course.
Each purchase of the Firefly Mobile Aurii Dream One — which is available in Classy Champagne, Space Silver, and Golden Rose — comes with freebies like a tempered glass, a SIM card, and a case.
