Its predecessor, the Mi MIX, had us sit up and take notice when it was unveiled in October 2016 because it looked nothing like any phones being sold then. Well, the Sharp Aquos Crystal we saw at the 2015 International CES in Las Vegas was almost all screen, too, but that Xiaomi device definitely looked more awesome (see topmost image).
So we’re not surprised about the interest in its successor. And we’re not surprised that the the Mi MIX 2 is currently the subject of a lot of rumors.

According to the listing, the smartphone has a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with 2,540 x 1,440-pixel resolution. On the front is a 13-megapixel selfie camera, and on its back is a 19-megapixel shooter. A 4,500mAh battery take charge of powering the device. And it’s running Android 7.1 Nougat-based MIUI 9.
As with the Mi 6, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor, paired with an Adreno 540 GPU. It is said to come in three configurations:
- 4GB RAM + 128GB of internal storage: priced at $848.91 (P42,247 when converted to Philippine peso);
- 6GB RAM + 128GB of internal storage: priced at $951.37 (P47,346); and
- 8GB RAM + 256GB of internal storage: priced at $1,094.81 (P54,484).
For comparison’s sake, last year’s Mi MIX has two variants: the one with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage is retailing at ¥3,499 (roughly P25,291 or $508), and the model with 6GB of RAM, 256GB of built-in memory, and 18-karat gold accents around the rear camera and the fingerprint sensor is selling for ¥3,999 (approximately P28,898 or $581).

The listing is supposed to be a pre-sale. Clicking the Arrival Notice button lets you submit your email address, so you can be notified of the Mi MIX 2’s arrival.
As always, we urge you to take the said leaked specs and prices — along with the image included on GearBest, which is most likely a mock-up — with a grain of salt.
