You already see the proliferation of phones with three cameras. There are those with dual rear-facing cameras like the Apple iPhone 7 Plus, the Huawei P10, and the LG G6, and there are devices — the OPPO F3 Plus and the Vivo V5 Plus — that take the dual-camera battle to the front.
But Alcatel apparently thinks three is not enough. It slapped two 13-megapixel sensors on the back of the Flash (2017) — one of which is color that uses Sony’s IMX258, the same sensor you’ll find on the G6, and the other, monochromatic. This reminds us of the P10’s setup.
The company also threw two sensors at the front. One has a megapixel count of 8, and the other — used for depth-of-field effects — has 5 megapixels.
The Alcatel Flash (2017) has two 13-megapixel camera sensors on the back — one RGB and the other, monochromatic — and 8- and 5-megapixel sensors on the front.
The rest of the specs aren’t bad either. The Alcatel Flash (2017) is powered by a Mediatek Helio X20 deca-core processor. There’s a 5.5-inch full-HD screen, a fingerprint sensor, a USB-C port, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage, which you can still extend via a microSD card up to 128GB.
However, it would have been better if Alcatel had made the 3,100mAh battery bigger. More points if the Flash is shipping with Android Nougat — not Marshmallow — out of the box as well.
Pricing and availability are still unknown at posting time, but we’ll update this article as soon as they’re out.
So, what do you think? Is the new Alcatel Flash something you’d want to have because of its four cameras? Or is a quad-camera smartphone too much for you? Let us know in the comments.
