TECNO is finally bringing its CAMON 40 Series to the Philippines, with the official launch event set for April 23 and market release scheduled for April 24.

Fresh off its global debut earlier this year, where we got some hands-on time at MWC 2025, the lineup is poised to inject a significant dose of AI smarts, particularly in the camera department, into the local smartphone scene. However, it seems that only three of the four models we at Revü saw in Barcelona, Spain, will be released locally — at least initially.

Our video preview of the TECNO CAMON 40 Pro 5G’s design. Our review of the phone should be up next week

You’ll recall the CAMON 40 series marked a significant step for the Transsion Holdings sub-brand, doubling down on artificial intelligence not just for computational photography but for the entire user experience. The international launch showcased four distinct models: the feature-packed TECNO CAMON 40 Premier 5G, the high-performing TECNO CAMON 40 Pro 5G, the versatile TECNO CAMON 40 Pro 4G, and the accessible base TECNO CAMON 40 4G.

The company’s pitch revolved around seamlessly integrating AI into daily tasks, from capturing fleeting moments with features like AI One-Tap FlashSnap to improving call quality with its 360-degree AI Call Assistant.

TECNO also highlighted its updated Universal Tone technology for more inclusive portrait photography and talked up hardware improvements like the Premier 5G’s large Sony LYT-701 sensor for low-light shots. Durability wasn’t ignored either, with IP68/IP69 ratings on the higher-end models and IP66 on the standard CAMON 40, plus Gorilla Glass 7i protection. And let’s not forget the CAMON 40 Pro 5G already made waves by topping Dxomark’s camera rankings in the sub-$600 (under P33,987) category shortly after its announcement, earning the “Smart Choice Label” for 2025 — a strong signal of TECNO’s imaging ambitions.

Remember this? Again, we’ll share our verdict next week!

Now, as the April 23rd Philippine launch approaches, early indicators suggest a potentially incomplete lineup. We’ve spotted listings for the TECNO CAMON 40 Premier 5G, TECNO CAMON 40 Pro 5G, and TECNO CAMON 40 appearing on major local e-commerce platforms. Conspicuously absent, however, is the CAMON 40 Pro 4G variant. If the latter will be skipped, perhaps the brand is focusing the local strategy more heavily on 5G or specific price tiers. Perhaps.

Regardless of the final roster, the arrival of the CAMON 40 series is significant. TECNO has consistently targeted emerging markets like the Philippines, aiming to deliver advanced features at competitive price points. This AI-centric generation, with its emphasis on smart imaging and user experience enhancements, looks set to challenge established players in the midrange segment. We’ll get the official confirmation on the lineup, local pricing, and availability details come April 23.
