Apple has set the date for its upcoming keynote event happening next month.
The technology giant officially kicked off the hype train today by sending out invites for its annual Worldwide Developers Conference, or simply WWDC, which starts on June 10 at Apple Park in Cupertino, California. Mark your calendars for the event, which will be streamed live at 10 a.m. PDT, because that’s when we’re expecting a boatload of software announcements.
Of course, the big announcement at this year’s WWDC keynote is iOS 18, the company’s next-gen software update for Apple devices. Rumors have been swirling about Apple’s plans for AI integration, and all signs point to iOS 18 being the platform for these advancements.
While whispers of an OpenAI and ChatGPT collaboration have circulated recently, Apple is rumored to be taking an in-house approach, which is completely on-brand for the company, by the way. That said, expect a heavy focus on on-device processing backed by the company’s data centers, with Apple having previously confirmed that its M4-based iPad Air and iPad Pro tablets are getting improved machine-learning capabilities for new AI-powered features.
Speaking of features, iOS 18 is being touted as one of the biggest overhauls in iOS history. Whether that lives up to the hype remains to be seen, but we are expecting some significant upgrades. Safari, Photos, and Notes are all getting the AI treatment, alongside a (hopefully) smarter Siri and revamped notification system.
