Former Huawei sub-brand HONOR has unveiled its latest smartphones — the HONOR 200 and the higher-end HONOR 200 Pro.

For now, the two sub-flagships are launching only in China, with sales starting May 31. Pricing starts at ¥2,499 (around $345 or P20,013 converted) for the base HONOR 200 with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and reaches ¥4,499 ($621 or P36,030) for the top-of-the-line HONOR 200 Pro with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage.

However, the big question on everyone’s mind is: Will these phones ever see an international release? Fortunately for HONOR fans, the answer is yes. The company has scheduled a global launch event for its latest sub-flagship series on June 12 in Paris, France, where it is expected to share all the details regarding international pricing and availability.

Hopefully, the company will introduce at least the HONOR 200 on the local market. Recall that last year’s HONOR 90 with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage was priced at P24,990 ($431) in the Philippines.

The non-Pro variant

The two newly announced smartphones look quite similar on the surface, with both sporting sizable 6.7-inch OLED displays with a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, they also share some key hardware specs, including a potentially long-lasting 5,200mAh battery that supports 100-watt wired fast charging and a flagship-grade 50-megapixel main image sensor, albeit from different manufacturers.

However, there are some key differences between the two models. The Pro variant steps things up with a more powerful processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 , the same chip featured on the recently announced POCO F6, while the standard Honor 200 is built around the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. The HONOR 200 Pro also boasts extras like 66-watt wireless charging and a dedicated chip for improved cellular and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Additionally, the Pro version packs a 50-megapixel Omnivision OV50H camera sensor, which is the same high-performance sensor used on the company’s flagship Magic6 Pro.
