HONOR has announced two new smartphones in the Philippines. One is a successor to the HONOR X8a launched last year, while the other, the HONOR Magic V2, arrives as the world’s thinnest foldable phone at just 9.9mm when folded. Notably, it’s also the brand’s first foldable for the local market.

The HONOR X8b has a suggested retail price of P12,999, or roughly $232 converted, for the lone variant with 8GB of RAM and a whopping 512GB of internal storage. This is the most affordable option you’ll find at local retail if you’re after the most storage space without going the flagship route.

Those who preorder the smartphone until February 23 will receive a free pair of HONOR Choice X5 Earbuds worth P1,590 ($28). There are three color variants to choose from: Titanium Silver, Midnight Black, and Glamorous Green, with the latter sporting a faux-leather back with a diamond-stitching pattern for a more premium look and feel.

Another major highlight of the HONOIR X8b is the AMOLED display, which flaunts some of the thinnest bezels you’ll find in this price segment. The chin, which is usually prominent on most handsets, is barely noticeable, so you’ll see that the bezels are almost uniform all the way around. As expected, the resulting screen-to-body ratio is impressively high at 93.7%.

HONOR also claims 2,000 nits of peak brightness under ideal conditions, along with 3,240Hz high-frequency PWM dimming to reduce eye strain and headaches when using the panel at lower brightness levels.

At the back, the main camera packs a 108-megapixel ISOCELL HM6 image sensor, which is featured on the HONOR X9b 5G as well. The primary cam is joined by 5-megapixel ultrawide and 2-megapixel filler sensors. A 50-megapixel shooter that supports auto-focus takes care of selfies.

Other notable specs of the HONOR X8b include a 6nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 4G chipset, a 4,500mAh battery that supports 35-watt fast charging, and the company’s MagicOS 7.2 based on Android 13.
