Huawei has unveiled a roster of new products at a global event in Dubai. The lineup includes the 13.2-inch Huawei MatePad Pro tablet, Huawei MateBook D 16 laptop, and Huawei FreeClip open-ear earbuds.
(Update, January 5: The Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2″, Huawei MateBook D 16 2024, and Huawei FreeClip have a Philippine launch date!)
Both the MatePad Pro and MateBook D 16 have been confirmed to launch in the Philippines “soon,” according to the press release we got from Huawei’s PR arm. We’ve been using the MatePad Pro and FreeClip for quite some time now, and we’ll have more to share about them once the company’s local embargo lifts.
Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2″
The 13.2-inch Huawei MatePad Pro is no stranger to us, or anyone who follows the firm closely. You might recall that the big-screen slate debuted in China in September and will compete against the likes of the Apple iPad Pro and Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Plus in global markets. The brand also announced a smart magnetic keyboard that pairs with the tablet and comes with a full-area touchpad for a laptop-like experience.
The new tablet — Huawei’s largest to date — brings a generous 13.2-inch, 1,000-nit 2K OLED display with incredibly narrow bezels, 10-bit colors, and a refresh rate that goes as high as 144Hz. It also arrives with stylus support and a large 10,100mAh battery that supports 88-watt fast charging, which should be able to charge the tablet from zero to 85% in just 40 minutes. Inside, the 13.2-inch MatePad Pro is powered by the latest Kirin chipset and runs HarmonyOS 4 out of the box.
In Europe, the Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2″ starts at €999 (around $1,088 or P60,842) for the base model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, while the top-end 12GB/512GB variant is priced at €1,199 ($1,306 or P73,022). Preorders go live January 8 and ships from the 22nd across the continent.

Huawei MateBook D 16
The MateBook D 16 boasts more powerful specs while retaining the form factor and weight of a mainstream 15.6-inch laptop, despite offering a 16-inch screen real estate. Of course, the latest MateBook refresh still supports numerous first-party features, including Multi-Device Collaboration, Huawei Share, Personal Voice Enhancement, and Smart Conference with AI features including AI Camera, AI Sound Effects, and Smart Voice.
Inside, the MateBook D 16 is powered by up to a 13th Gen Intel Core i9 H-Series processor, but it can also be configured with 12th or 13th Gen Intel Core i5 H-Series CPUs.

Huawei FreeClip
Finally, we have the Huawei FreeClip, the company’s first open-ear earphones, which promise all-day comfort and uncompromised sound quality. Unlike traditional wireless earphones that hang from your ear and feature a closed-earbud design to naturally minimize sound spillage and outside noise, the FreeClip clamp firmly to your ears and actually stay there even during exercise.
Huawei says these are the world’s first-ever “zero-pressure” clip-on earbuds, and we’re inclined to agree considering how many times we completely forgot that we were wearing them. Notably, the buds are also interchangeable between left and right ears and will automatically self-correct the channels.
They’re rated for 8 hours of music playback on a single charge as well, while the case is good for an extra 24 hours of battery life. The buds carry an IP54 rating for water resistance, too, making them ideal for workouts and running.
Available in black and purple colors, the Huawei FreeClip are priced at €199 ($217 or P12,120) in Europe.
