OPPO has just launched a new A series phone, and we’re loving the look of the brown, vegan-leather variant.

The OPPO A2 Pro is now already up for preorder in China, with availability scheduled for September 22. The version with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is priced at ¥1,799 (roughly P14,026 or $247), while the 12GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB models cost ¥1,999 (P15,585 or $275) and ¥2,399 (P18,704 or $330), respectively.

Inside the smartphone is a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 5G chipset, the same platform that powers the OPPO Reno10 5G. The chip incorporates a Cortex-A78 core and is made using a 6nm process technology for improved battery efficiency.

Which brings us to OPPO’s claim that the A2 Pro’s 5,000mAh battery with 67-watt SUPERVOOC Flash Charge feature can last up to four years. The company is confident about it that it will replace the battery for free if the cell’s maximum capacity doesn’t reach 80% anymore within four years of the purchase date. Not only that, the device’s build is also said to be durable, what with its anti-fall structure and IP54 dust- and water-resistance rating.

The OPPO A2 Pro’s other features include a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 64-megapixel dual camera on the back, an 8-megapixel camera up front, and Android 13-based ColorOS 13.1 user interface.

Last year’s OPPO A1 Pro debuted as a tweaked version of the OPPO Reno8 T 5G globally. Could the OPPO Reno10T 5G — assuming there will be one in 2023 — be quite similar to the recently announced OPPO A2 Pro as well?
