The first clamshell foldable from TECNO Mobile will officially launch alongside the TECNO Megabook T1 2023 14-inch on September 22 at an event in Singapore.

(Update, September 22: The newly launched TECNO Phantom V Flip 5G gets an attractive price!)

Dubbed the TECNO Phantom V Flip 5G, it is the company’s second foldable smartphone after the TECNO Phantom V Fold, which debuted at MWC 2023 back in February and in June in the Philippines, and will challenge the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 when it hits local retail.

You might recall that the MediaTek-based Phantom V Fold was launched in the country with a pretty aggressive price tag, retailing for P59,999 (around $1,059 converted) for 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. While we’re not sure how much the Phantom V Flip will cost, we won’t be surprised if it manages to undercut the Galaxy Z Flip5 in the Philippines, where Samsung’s latest clamshell phone starts at P64,990 ($1,147). Especially considering the Phantom V Flip’s leaked specs.

This is the alleged design of the TECNO Phantom V Flip 5G

The upcoming TECNO foldable recently appeared on Google Play Console, confirming some key specs, including its chipset, RAM configuration, and screen resolution. According to the listing, the Phantom V Flip will run Android 13 on a MediaTek Dimensity 1300, a midrange 5G chipset that you’ll also find in last year’s vivo V25 Pro 5G. It will also come with 8GB of RAM and a 1080p display that will probably measure 6.9 inches when unfolded.

Other rumored specs of the TECNO Phantom V Flip 5G include a 1.39-inch OLED screen at the back alongside a 64-megapixel camera and a 13-megapixel ultrawide option. It could arrive with a 3,900mAh battery that supports 45-watt fast charging out of the box.
