OPPO A78 4G debuts with 6.43-inch AMOLED screen, 67W fast charging

There’s an OPPO A78 5G. Now, there’s also a 4G version of the smartphone.

The OPPO A78 4G is already official in Indonesia and will be launched in Cambodia this Friday, July 14. So there’s a strong possibility the new model will be rolled out to other Southeast Asian countries as well — perhaps even including the Philippines. (Update, July 17: Yes, the OPPO A78 4G is launching in the Philippines!)

The LTE variant of the OPPO A78 is fitted with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680, the same chipset you’ll find in the OPPO A77s, which was launched locally in the last quarter of 2022 with a price tag of P13,999 (roughly $253).

The 6.43-inch display is of the AMOLED kind, has an FHD+ resolution, supports up to 90Hz, and features small bezels and a high screen-to-body ratio of 90.8%. The battery is big at 5,000mAh and can go from 0% to 100% in just 45.5 minutes, courtesy of OPPO‘s 67-watt SUPERVOOC fast-charging technology. And the 8GB RAM can still be extended up to 16GB via dynamic RAM should the need arise.

The phone likewise comes with a 50-megapixel dual camera on the back, an 8-megapixel selfie shooter housed in a small punch-hole cutout on the upper-left side of the front panel, dual stereo speakers, and 256GB of storage. It ships with Android 13-based ColorOS 13.1 out of the box.

In Indonesia, the OPPO A78 4G is priced at Rp3,599,000 (P13,135 or $237). There are two color variants to choose from — the Sea Green version with a gorgeous Diamond Matrix design and the minimalist Black Mist edition.
