Almost two years after the Microsoft Xbox Series S was launched, we are finally getting a version with bigger storage and another color option.

Xbox has announced at the Xbox Games Showcase 2023 that the Xbox Series S will be available with double the internal storage at 1TB as a response to gamers requesting for more memory included with their consoles.

This development comes less than a week after Western Digital released 512GB and 1TB storage-expansion cards for the Xbox Series X and Series S for $79.99 (around P4,481) and $149.99 (P8,403), respectively.

The new variant will also come in the same Carbon Black matte finish as the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Wireless Controller. But aside from those two changes, the other specs and features are still similar to those of the older model.

The latest Xbox Series S variant will be sold starting September 1, just in time for the September 6 release of Starfield, an action role-playing game from the creators of Skyrim and Fallout, Bethesda Game Studios.

The console is priced at $349.99 (P19,604) in the United States, where it’s already up for preorder from the Xbox and Microsoft Stores. We wonder how much it will cost in the Philippines if and when local retailers like Datablitz and Game One bring the Carbon Black 1TB version here. Just keep in mind that the white Xbox Series S with 512GB SSD is currently selling in the country for around P16,000 ($286).
