The TECNO CAMON 20 Pro series is now official in the Philippines, and the company even tagged celebrity Joshua Garcia as its newest ambassador. In a surprising development, it also announced its first foldable smartphone, the TECNO Phantom V Fold, on the local market with an attractive price tag.

You might recall that the TECNO Phantom V Fold debuted at the Mobile World Congress 2023 in Barcelona, Spain, which we attended earlier this year. Locally, the foldable phone will cost P59,999 (around $1,068 converted) for 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. It is scheduled to hit retail stores June 20th.

The Phantom V Fold starts at $1,099 (P61,715) on the international market for the variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, so it’s quite surprising that the top-end 512GB version of the foldable will be priced cheaper than expected when it arrives here. For reference, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 starts at $1,799 in the United States and P98,990 in the Philippines.

TECNO Mobile‘s Phantom V Fold has a larger folding display than the Samsung foldable flagship as well, to go along with its flagship-grade internals. Powering the device is a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Plus, the same 4nm chipset the ASUS ROG Phone 6D Ultimate uses. The chip is paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage and runs the brand’s custom overlay based on Android 13.

Both inner and cover screens of the Phantom V Fold take advantage of LTPO AMOLED technology and can operate at up to 120Hz. The phone’s hinge mechanism is also so smooth that its folding display folds flat with no visible gap between its two halves.

As for the 4G and 5G models of the TECNO CAMON 20 Pro, they are priced at P9,999 ($178) and P12,999 ($231), respectively, as we previously reported. However, early adopters can get P1,000 ($18) off each model if they purchase it from the brand’s official store on TikTok.
