This is it. Apple has finally sent out an invite to an event that’s expected to be the iPhone 7 launch at 10 a.m. on September 7 (1 a.m. on September 8 in the Philippines). Seven on the seventh. Clever.

Now, indulge our overanalyzing selves for a minute. The invitation seems to provide a clue as to what we can expect from the next iPhone. It appears to show blurred lights that form the upper part of Apple’s logo. The operative word here is “blurred.” You’re looking at bokeh.

Does this mean rumors of the iPhone 7 Plus carrying two rear cameras are correct? If they are, then it’s about time. The flagship phones of Huawei and LG — the P9 and the G5 — already use a dual-camera system. Even Xiaomi, with its Redmi Pro, has joined the fray. Because let’s face it: Today’s smartphone can already take great photos, but because of its size, it just can’t compete with DSLRs and mirrorless cameras, which can carry large sensors.

My take: The Huawei P9 is one of my favorite smartphones this year precisely because of its ability to take pictures with bokeh effects. If Apple is indeed adding another camera module to the iPhone 7 Plus, then consider me sold, even if I prefer the other iPhone variant because of its smaller size.

My partner Ramon Lopez’s take: While I’m excited that at least one iPhone 7 will be capable of super-creamy bokeh, the thought of going back to a large phone makes me cringe. I’m currently using the iPhone 6s, and I think its size is perfect for my needs. I’m hopeful that Tim Cook and the wizards over at Apple’s headquarters can find it in their hearts to make a standard iPhone that won’t feel small in other respects.
