The vivo Y16 is now more affordable in the Philippines following a recently announced price drop.
Customers can purchase the base variant of the vivo Y16 with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage for as low as P6,999 (about $124) instead of P7,999 ($145). The 4GB/128GB model, on the other hand, has dropped to P7,999 ($145), from P8,999 ($163) at launch.
Announced last year, the vivo Y16 is available in Drizzling Gold and Stellar Black colors that combine a trendy boxy aesthetic with a star-trail pattern at the back. The rear also features two large camera rings, keeping it in line with recent smartphone launches.
The unit is equipped with a 13-megapixel main camera assisted by a 2-megapixel sensor for portraits. For selfies, you get a 5-megapixel camera housed in a waterdrop notch alongside some chunky bezels.
The vivo Y16 comes with a nicely sized 6.51-inch HD+ LCD display that operates at 60Hz. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner as well, to give you an easier time when unlocking the phone. Its 5,000mAh battery promises days of usage and supports reverse charging, allowing you to use the fairly large battery backup to juice up your other devices.
To ensure decent day-to-day performance, the handset relies on a 12nm MediaTek Helio P35 4G chipset, which comprises eight Cortex-A53 cores and a PowerVR GE8320 GPU. While it’s an older chip, it should still be capable of running casual games and light multitasking.
