The launch date of POCO’s upcoming F series models is finally out.
(Update, May 9: The POCO F5 Pro and POCO F5 are official! Here’s how much they are in the Philippines!)
The Xiaomi sub-brand has announced that the POCO F5 Pro and POCO F5 will go official on the global stage May 9. And we have good news for those who are based in the Philippines: The two smartphones will be unveiled locally on the same date as well, as we spotted on the official POCO store on Shopee. Unfortunately, the prices listed on the platform are just placeholders.
The POCO F5 is confirmed to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 5G chipset, which debuted in the Redmi Note 12 Turbo. The processor uses the same 4nm TSMC process and CPU and GPU architecture as the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. Even their memory specifications and ISP are similar. So expect the POCO F5 to deliver flagship-level performance in day-to-day tasks and benchmark apps — at least on paper.
The website of certification authority NCC reveals the device features a triple-rear-camera setup, a 5,000mAh battery, and support for 67-watt fast wired charging. All of the specs and design seen thus far are the same as the Redmi Note 12 Turbo’s, so there must be truth to the rumor that the vanilla F5 is a rebranded variant of the former.
The POCO F5 Pro, on the other hand, is reportedly a rebadged Redmi K60, which is built around the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 platform.
