Huawei has announced its latest Nova 11 series at an event in China. The lineup comprises the standard Nova 11, Nova 11 Pro, and Nova 11 Ultra, with the latter debuting the company’s variable-aperture camera system on a Nova phone.

(Update, June 20: We just posted these today: Huawei nova 11i vs OPPO A77s: Which phone is the better option for you? and Huawei nova 11 Pro, nova 11, nova 11i priced from P11,999 [$216] in PH)

(Update, June 13: Here’s when the Huawei nova 11 series is coming to the Philippines!)

This is the same lens system that the Huawei Mate 50 Pro and Huawei P60 series offers, and the aperture values also go from f/1.4 to f/4.0. All three smartphones are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 4G chipset, same as last year’s generation, and run Huawei’s own HarmonyOS 3.0 operating system out of the box.

The new models bring back the curved 120Hz OLED screen and large pill-shaped camera island from last year but now flaunt a leather-like texture at the back, except for the vanilla Nova 11, which sports a flat display and a smooth matte-glass finish on the rear.

They also pack a 50-megapixel main camera joined by an 8-megapixel secondary ultrawide option that doubles as a macro cam when needed. For selfies, the Nova 11 models are equipped with a 60-megapixel shooter. The Huawei Nova 11 Pro and Huawei Nova 11 Ultra add a dedicated 8-megapixel portrait-zoom sensor on the front as well, to help you zoom in on videos.

You may recall that the Nova 10 Pro boasts the same feature, which users will find useful when doing live selling on social platforms and shooting makeup tutorials. All three have a 4,500mAh battery, but only the Pro and Ultra variants support fast charging up to 100 watts, which can recharge the battery from zero to 50% in just 15 minutes — even with the display turned on.
