Just a day after Xiaomi announced the second 200-megapixel smartphone with the launch of the Xiaomi 12T Pro, Infinix Mobile unveiled its entry in the megapixel race — the Infinix Zero Ultra 5G.
(Update, October 12: What an aggressive pricing for the Philippine market! Look.)
(Update, October 7: We now have the Infinix Zero Ultra 5G’s launch date in the Philippines!)
The device also launched alongside the company’s animated Xboy Explorer NFT collection, which celebrates some of the device’s unique features, including its high-res camera and quick-charging battery. Customers who purchase an Infinix Zero Ultra 5G will be entitled to a lottery card that offers the chance to claim an NFT by scanning a QR code. Fans can also participate in an online campaign to win an NFT.
International pricing has been set at $520 (around P30,529), which is incredibly aggressive given the specs and features you’re getting. Available in two colors — silver and black — the phone arrives with 8GB RAM coupled with 256GB of storage. It supports virtual RAM as well, allowing you to use the internal storage to expand the memory up to 13GB. There’s no word on how much it will cost in the Philippines, but it’s already listed for preorder on Infinix’s official store on Lazada.
Like Xiaomi’s latest flagship, the Infinix Zero Ultra 5G boasts a 200-megapixel camera sensor on the back coupled with optical image stabilization for a pro-grade photography and videography experience. As noteworthy as that sounds, though, the rear camera isn’t the most impressive spec here.
True to the teasers and leaks, the Zero Ultra 5G is the one of the fastest-charging phones out there, offering 180 watts of charging power using Infinix’s proprietary Thunder Charge standard, which it debuted as a concept technology earlier this year.
The smartphone’s 180-watt quick charging is paired with a 4,500mAh battery, allowing for a full charge in just 12 minutes. No, that’s not a typo! That basically means the handset can go from zero to full in the time it takes for you to hard-boil an egg, read a chapter of a book, or finish your morning cup of coffee.
For a smooth and fluid experience, the newly launched unit packs a 6.8-inch curved AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. You also get a 32-megapixel front-facing cam in a punch-hole cutout for selfies.
The Infinix Zero Ultra 5G is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 920 5G chipset, which can clock up to 2.5GHz CPU speed and is based on a 6nm fabrication process for optimal efficiency. The Dimensity 920 chip can run modern games, including Genshin Impact, at medium to high graphics settings. It’s among the fastest chipsets in the midrange, too, according to previous Antutu rankings.
