Huawei has announced the sequel to the FreeBuds Pro, the aptly named Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2, in the Philippines. Co-engineered with renowned French audio company Devialet, the technology giant’s latest premium wireless ANC earphones promise to bring “true sound that brings beauty to your ears.”
In the Philippines, the FreeBuds Pro 2 in Silver Blue, Silver Frost, and Ceramic White colors carry a suggested retail price of P9,999 (around $178) and will be available for preorder from September 2 until the 8th. Early adopters will receive a free Huawei Band 6 fitness band worth P2,599 ($46).
Starting with the hardware, the TWS earbuds ship in a slim and sleek case sporting a smooth matte finish to minimize fingerprints and provide the case with more grip. As for the buds themselves, they come with an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance and are powered by an improved dual-driver system, which covers the widest audio-frequency band of any Huawei earphones to date, going from 14Hz to 48kHz. This allows you to hear every note and not miss a beat.
The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 also include three microphones for up to 47dB noise suppression. Like its predecessor, they set the new benchmark for noise cancellation in the category; the previous high was up to 40dB.
Equipped with “Triple Adaptive EQ” technology, the company says the earbuds should be able to automatically tune audio according to the user’s ear canal structure, wearing posture, and volume level to help deliver a more personalized listening experience.
Additionally, the second-generation FreeBuds Pro bring support for Sony’s superior LDAC codec for hi-res audio over a Bluetooth connection, and are certified by both HWA and Hi-Res Audio Wireless. If you’re not familiar, the LDAC codec achieves a peak speed of around 990kbps, which falls short of lossless CD quality.
