Barely a week after the ASUS ROG Phone 6 Pro and ASUS ROG Phone 6 became official, here come the latest gaming phones of Nubia.
The RedMagic 7S Pro Bumblebee Transformers Edition, RedMagic 7S Pro Mercury Edition, and RedMagic 7S have been launched in China, with the Pro to be unveiled on the global stage July 26. The trio joins the Xiaomi 12S series and ASUS’ newest ROG handsets in the “Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 Club.” The American chipmaker’s flagship 5G chipset is paired with up to 18GB of LPDDR5 RAM and a maximum of 1TB of UFS 3.1 storage.
The Bumblebee Pro limited version has similar specs as the Mercury Pro model, though the unit and retail box and accessories it comes with are all themed after the Transformers character, as expected. There’s only one memory configuration, too: 16GB RAM mated to 512GB storage.

The design of the RedMagic 7S lineup doesn’t stray much away from that of the RedMagic 7 series, though all now have an integrated fan with LED lights and an under-screen selfie camera. It also gets Nubia’s own Red Core 1 dedicated gaming chip, an improved cooling system, and Enhance Magic GPU for stabilizing frame rates.
The AMOLED screen is 6.8 inches with a refresh rate that goes up to 165Hz (on the non-Pro) and touch sampling that maxes out at 960Hz (on the Pro). There’s also support for a maximum of 135 watts of fast charging, a 64-megapixel triple camera on the back, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and a user interface that’s based on Android 12.
