The Mate Xs 2 will indeed launch in the Philippines tomorrow, July 1. Huawei’s latest foldable will be available in black and white colors with a leather-like finish. We’re told it will be offered through open channels, including e-commerce platforms.

Huawei Philippines’ announcement
In Europe, the Huawei Mate Xs 2 carried a suggested retail price of €1,999, or roughly $2,089 or P114,763, when it arrived in the continent earlier this month. Take note that pricing in European markets tends to be higher compared with local retail due to higher taxes and fees, so expect the company’s foldable to fetch a lower price tag at launch here.
The Mate Xs 2 takes after the previous-gen Mate Xs, which debuted back in February 2020, featuring an outward-folding form factor with a double-rotating Falcon Wing Hinge design that allows the tablet-size OLED display to be folded completely flat, with a much less obvious crease running across the middle. It’s a curious departure from traditional foldables like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 and OPPO Find N that fold like a book.
It also uses light yet sturdy materials, such as a 3D fiberglass back, to achieve a weight of only 255 grams. More impressively, Huawei says the Mate Xs 2 is one of the toughest foldables it has ever built, combining an innovative composite-screen structure and a hinge reinforced by advanced MIM steel, giving it 2.5x the drop resistance and 2.8x the impact resistance of its predecessor.
Internally, the Mate Xs 2 is powered by a Snapdragon 888 4G chipset with 8GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage. It also ships with a 4,600mAh battery for all-day endurance and supports Huawei’s 66-watt SuperCharge standard.
