Top smartphone maker vivo has taken the wraps off the X80 series in the Philippines, with the expectation that the company’s latest camera-centric flagship lineup will set the gold standard for mobile photography and videography on the local market.

Available in Cosmic Black and Urban Blue colors, the vivo X80 costs P45,999 (roughly $876 converted) in the Philippines. The vivo X80 Pro in Cosmic Black, on the other hand, is priced at P59,999 ($1,143). Both smartphones arrive with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

For online presales of the X80, the freebies are a pair of TWS earphones and a two-in-one clock speaker. If you’re not familiar, the vivo X80 and vivo X80 Pro are the successors to the X70 lineup, which includes the X70 5G. The previous-gen flagship already offered an innovative camera experience, headlined by vivo’s excellent Night mode and 5-axis image stabilization. The X80 family takes things further by throwing in better OLED screens, faster specs, and IP68 dust and water resistance on the Pro model. New camera system with ZEISS lens and self-developed V1+ ISP
vivo’s latest smartphone duo arrives with a new camera system featuring flagship-level image sensors as well as the company’s in-house V1+ imaging chip, which allows for high-speed data processing and reduced power consumption when using AI and software enhancements to improve a photo.
The X80 comes with a triple-camera array and is the first handset to sport Sony’s new IMX866 RGBW main sensor, while the X80 Pro packs a custom ISOCELL GNV sensor, in addition to three other cameras. The GNV unit uses sensor-shift optical image stabilization for sharper images. Both camera systems have a resolution of 50 megapixels.
The new lineup continues vivo’s partnership with ZEISS, the German leader in optics technology, with both the X80 and X80 Pro boasting ZEISS T* coating on their rear-facing setups to help improve brightness and deal with annoying lens flares, especially for night photography.

Another highlight: the camera software. Besides the special ZEISS coating, the X80 series also includes a number of ZEISS filters and effects under Portrait mode that take advantage of the X80 and X80 Pro’s powerful processor and V1+ ISP to produce stunning photos that look like they are captured with a DSLR. There’s the Pure Night View for improved clarity and colors in night scenes, and there’s ZEISS Cinematic Video Bokeh features, too, for shooting in a film-standard 2.39:1 aspect ratio with an oval bokeh around the subject. You should try it!
The Pro boasts a 12-megapixel Gimbal Portrait Camera and 360-degree Horizon Level Stabilization, in addition to a 48-megapixel ultrawide lens for landscapes and group photos. The dedicated Portrait Camera greatly improves stability when shooting videos with the phone and comes in handy in scenes with a lot of movement, like when you’re taking videos of kids and pets. It’s the equivalent of the stabilization found in action cameras.
Powerhouse specs: Dimensity 9000 on the X80 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 on the X80 Pro
Just like other flagship smartphones released in 2022, the vivo X80 and vivo X80 Pro are no slouch when it comes to day-to-day multitasking and gaming. Powering the X80 is MediaTek’s high-end Dimensity 9000 chip. The Pro model, on the other hand, uses the equally capable Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 platform. Both 5G chipsets are made using a 4nm fabrication process, resulting in faster performance and better efficiency.
Suffice to say, the X80 and X80 Pro are as powerful as any device on the market today and deliver chart-topping performance to easily handle heavy apps and mobile games. They’re not just about photography and videography, really. We were able to play even hardware-intensive titles like Genshin Impact and Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds with console-quality graphics running flawlessly at the highest possible settings on our vivo X80 Pro.
Curved E5 LTPO 2.0 AMOLED screens with up to 2K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate (excellent color reproduction and vibrancy, along with low power consumption)
Both devices sport a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, ideal for scrolling and pushing the hardware inside when playing games. As expected, the Pro variant goes a few steps further by switching to a curved E5 LTPO 2.0 panel and upping the resolution to WQHD+.
Another standout feature is the X80 Pro’s big in-display 3D ultrasonic fingerprint reader that only took us a couple of seconds to register our thumb impression. It’s blazingly fast, too, while the larger fingerprint-reading area makes unlocking the phone especially convenient. No more fumbling.
All-day battery life with 80W fast cable charging and 50W wireless charging (on the X80 Pro)
For all-day battery life, the vivo X80 has been fitted with a 4,500mAh battery, and the vivo X80 Pro, owing to its higher-resolution AMOLED screen, a slightly larger 4,700mAh cell. The two support fast charging out of the box, with vivo adopting its speedy 80-watt FlashCharge technology. This allows for impressive charging times. Think zero to full in under 40 minutes based on our testing. You can just get ready for the office, and voila! You get a fully charged unit before you step out of the house.
But the company didn’t stop there. Impressively, the X80 Pro adds wireless charging up to 50 watts, giving you a more convenient charging option than plugging in a cable.
