Popular benchmark app Antutu has released the latest lists of best-performing Android smartphones released in China. As with the April rankings, the report is divided into flagship, sub-flagship, and midrange categories.
So which handsets figured in the May 2022 lists?
Unsurprisingly, the top-end space was populated by devices equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, which uses a 4nm Samsung process and a tri-cluster design consisting of a Cortex-X2 prime core operating at 3GHz, three Cortex-A710 performance cores clocked at 2.5GHz, and four Cortex-A510 efficiency cores running at 1.8GHz. The premium category has always been where the American chipmaker shines.
Eight of the top 10 best-performing flagship Android models use Qualcomm’s high-end chip. Ruling the charts were gaming phones — the Black Shark 5 Pro, the RedMagic 7 Pro, and the Lenovo Legion Y90.
We can see two handsets here that are coming to the Philippines soon, and they’re both from Vivo. We’re referring to the Vivo X80 and Vivo X80 Pro.
The sub-flagship category in May clearly belonged to MediaTek-based units, with Dimensity chipsets seen powering most of the smartphones that made it to the top 10.
The first three models on the list — the Vivo S15 Pro, the Realme GT Neo 3, and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11T Pro Plus — come with the Taiwan company’s Dimensity 8100, which is made using a 5nm process and features four Cortex-A78 performance cores as well as four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores.
But phones with Qualcomm processors once again dominated the midrange level. The chip manufacturer’s Snapdragon 778G and Snapdragon 778G Plus figured in nine of the 10 best-performing devices here.
The ranking was headlined by the iQOO Z5, the Xiaomi Civi 1S, and the Honor 60 Pro. Only the OPPO Reno7 5G relies on the MediaTek Dimensity 900 platform.
