Huawei‘s next foldable flagship will break cover on April 28. The upcoming Huawei Mate Xs 2 will be the brand’s fifth folding phone and its first foldable in 2022.
The Mate Xs 2 is said to use the model number PAL-AL00 and could boot HarmonyOS on a Kirin 9000 4G chipset, based on its Chinese certification listing. Not much is known about the phone, but Huawei’s teaser image is suitably teasing a smooth folding mechanism that, presumably, will eliminate the gap and creases when the main screen is folded.
It’s unclear if the Mate Xs 2 will follow the outward-bending design of its predecessor, the Mate Xs, which sold for P139,999 (about $2,672 converted) in the Philippines at launch, or if it will incorporate an inward-facing design resembling last year’s Huawei Mate X2, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3, and OPPO Find N.
The latter would require a secondary outer display that should be much more practical than the teensy screen on clamshell foldables like the Huawei P50 Pocket and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3.

However, if the latest leaks are true, the Mate Xs 2 will boast an outward-folding 8-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a single punch-hole camera for selfies, and M-Pen stylus support. It will reportedly come in three colors — black, gold, and pink — and sport triple cameras on the back, along with a 4,500mAh battery that supports Huawei’s 66-watt charging standard.
In addition to the Huawei Mate Xs 2, the company is expected to unveil the Smart Screen V Pro high-end TV, which will feature the brand’s in-house SuperMini LED technology for better image quality. The TV has also been tipped to sport a 120Hz panel, a 6GB/64GB memory configuration, and a 24-megapixel camera for meetings and video calls. It may come in 65- and 75-inch sizes, too.
