Huawei will announce the latest nova 9 series on September 23, with the Chinese market, unsurprisingly, getting first dibs on the new devices. We expect two models in the lineup, namely the Huawei Nova 9 and Huawei Nova 9 Pro.

(Update, September 24: The newly launched Huawei Nova 9 series gets up to 100-watt fast charging, among other specs!)

A poster shared by the company has revealed the rear design of the Nova 9, and it’s pretty much in line with what we’ve heard from the rumor mill thus far. Now, live shots of the upcoming Nova refresh have appeared on China’s Weibo microblogging platform, offering a better glimpse of the Nova 9 and Nova 9 Pro’s gorgeous-looking rear panels reminiscent of the Honor 50 series’.

Unlike their predecessors, the Huawei Nova 9 and Nova 9 Pro seem to sport a finely textured sandblasted finish, which should give the devices an understated yet premium look. Another notable feature on the rear is the big camera module in the top-left corner with a 50-megapixel RYYB sensor. The second camera ring houses three other cameras as well as a flash unit. Per usual, the Nova branding is located near the bottom in reasonably clear fonts.

The leaked pictures match the TENAA images of a certain Huawei handset with the model number RTE-AL00, which is said to be the vanilla Nova 9.

As for the chipset, the two phones are believed to be powered by the 4G variant of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G, though one shouldn’t rule out 5G versions down the line. Both are expected to boot HarmonyOS 2.1 out of the box.

Other rumored specs of the standard variant include a 6.57-inch OLED screen, same as the Nova 8‘s display; a single 32-megapixel selfie shooter; and a 4,300mAh battery that likely supports fast charging up to 66 watts. The Pro edition, on the other hand, packs a 6.72-inch curved screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 300Hz touch sampling. It also steps up to dual front-facing cameras headlined by a 32-megapixel sensor.
