OPPO Find X3 Pro Photographer Edition to debut Sept 16

As we’ve suspected, one of the flagship products that OPPO is launching September 16 in China is a smartphone.

The company has revealed that the OPPO Find X3 Pro Photographer Edition will go official together with its Android 12-based ColorOS 12 user interface — and perhaps a smartwatch and its first-ever tablet — this week.

The phone is probably the first product of OPPO’s rumored long-term collaboration with U.S.-based photography firm Kodak. Recall that reliable tipster Digital Chat Station claimed that an upcoming OPPO model’s primary and ultra-wide cameras pack the same custom 50-megapixel IMX766 sensor developed with Sony and joined by a 13-megapixel telephoto shooter and a microlens camera.

That looks like the same rear setup as on the OPPO Find X3 Pro that we reviewed in March. So is it possible that the device that’s arriving soon has the same features as the earlier Pro version? Let’s see. But one thing’s for sure: The OPPO Find X3 Pro Photographer Edition is designed like a real camera. It seems to pay homage to the Kodak 35 classic that was introduced in 1938.

The pictures and, most recently, video that OPPO posted on Chinese social platform Weibo show the upper part of the smartphone’s back is silver. It’s probably metal, too. Black faux leather covers a huge part of the rear panel. Looks super sleek, no? Feast your eyes on two of the Find X3 Pro Photographer Edition images that OPPO shared with its followers below.
