LG has seen the writing on the wall: Mobile phone owners love taking selfies. As such, the Korean manufacturer has announced a new series of selfie-centric smartphones in the low-end market. The first handsets in the series are the LG K10 and K7.
Both phones feature a gesture mode for shooting self-portraits and are the first to offer the company’s “glossy pebble design language,” which is a fancy way of saying that the new devices sport a curved, textured rear cover, as well as 2.5D curved glass on top of the touch panel. The K10 and K7, in usual LG style, have the power and volume buttons on the rear, just below the main camera, making for more compact devices than their screen sizes would belie.

Exact specs will vary by region. The bigger and likely more expensive of the two, the LG K10, makes use of a 5.3-inch, high-res display, a 5- or 8-megapixel selfie camera, and an 8-megapixel or a 13-megapixel rear shooter, depending on the variant. As for the processor, it could be either a quad-core or an octa-core chip with at least 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. The LG K7 has a 5-inch, 480 x 854 touchscreen and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. Both phones ship with Android Lollipop.
LG has yet to finalize the pricing and release dates for the new phones.
