OPPO Reno 6 series confirmed to debut May 27

Not too long ago, OPPO announced the Reno 5 4G and 5G phones in the Philippines last February. The successor to that series will launch May 27 in China, the company has confirmed earlier today, May 19. The new Reno 6 lineup is expected to include the OPPO Reno 6, Reno 6 Pro, and Reno 6 Pro Plus.

The three smartphones have received their TENAA certification recently, so we already know what to expect prior to the announcement. Their TENAA listings previously revealed their designs as well, suggesting that not much has changed from earlier models. All three are expected to pack a 6.43-inch OLED screen; 8GB or 12GB RAM paired with up to 256GB of internal storage; and dual batteries, which hint at the inclusion of 65-watt fast charging. On the software front, expect OPPO’s ColorOS 11 based on Android 11.

As for the rumored individual specs, the regular OPPO Reno 6 might be powered by MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 900 chipset with Cortex-A78 performance cores and an integrated 5G modem. The 6nm SoC is said to deliver better performance than the Dimensity 820 and Snapdragon 768G chips. It will use a Mali-G68 GPU.

Based on the latest leaks and rumors, the OPPO Reno 6 Pro and OPPO Reno 6 Pro Plus should look identical next to each other, but their internals are somewhat different. The standard Pro variant might be built around the MediaTek Dimensity 1200, the company’s fastest chip to date, while the Pro Plus could ship with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870, just like the POCO F3 and global variant of the Vivo X60.
