5G is now more accessible to consumers with the release of 5G phones that are easier on the pocket. In the Philippines, OPPO is doing its part by launching its most affordable 5G-ready handset yet, priced at just P15,999 (roughly $331 converted).

The OPPO A74 5G is now up for pre-purchase at the company’s official store on Shopee, a month after the 4G version became available locally for P11,999 ($248). Preorder period ends May 4, and availability is scheduled for May 5. At its shop on Lazada, on the other hand, the first day of sale is set for May 9.

You can also get the A74 5G at either Globe Telecom or Smart Communications, but details of the postpaid plans haven’t been announced yet.

The OPPO A74 5G is one of the first phones to use the Snapdragon 840, Qualcomm’s first 5G chip for the masses. The SoC’s Kryo 460 CPU and Adreno 619 GPU are said to each deliver an over-100% performance upgrade over its predecessor.

With a 5,000mAh battery and a Smart Power Saving system, the smartphone should last a day — or perhaps even more, depending on your usage — without any need for charging. It helps that there’s support for 18-watt fast charging, too.

The A74 5G also gets a 6.5-inch 90Hz screen; a 48-megapixel quad-camera rear setup with features such as AI Scene Enhancement 2.0, AI Beautification, and Ultra Clear 108MP Image; 6GB of RAM; 128GB of storage; and Android 11.
