OPPO has quietly launched a new A series smartphone in the Philippines, following the local announcement of the OPPO A74, and also the OPPO A94 before that.
(Update, May 20: There is now an OPPO A54 with higher RAM, but the preorder price is lower than that of this 4GB variant! Look.)
The OPPO A54 joins the brand’s affordable smartphone lineup, sporting a palatable price tag of P9,499 (roughly $196) while offering competitive features, such as a 5,000mAh battery that supports 18-watt fast charging and an octa-core MediaTek Helio P35 paired with 4GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of eMMC5.1 storage.
The A54 is already available online on Lazada and Shopee and at retail stores nationwide. Crystal Black and Starry Blue are the color options on offer here. Both variants come with an IPX4 splash-protection rating.
OPPO says the 5,000mAh cell in the A54 should provide 19.9 hours of video streaming and 41 hours of continuous music playback. Conveniently, the phone has a USB-C port for wired charging and file transfer, another improvement over many budget devices that launched recently.
Another big convenience is the physical fingerprint sensor on the right-hand side, which should make unlocking the screen accurate and zippy. Speaking of, the LCD display measures 6.51 inches and features a punch-hole cutout for the 16-megapixel selfie shooter. It operates at an industry-standard 60Hz, but boasts a touch-sampling rate of 120Hz.
Other key specs include a 13-megapixel main camera, assisted by a pair of 2-megapixel sensors for bokeh and macro shooting modes; ColorOS 7.2 based on Android 10; and a 3D curved-body design.
