Lenovo is expected to announce the follow-up to its first gaming phone, the Lenovo Legion Phone Duel, on April 8 in China. Ahead of its launch, some key specs of the Lenovo Legion 2 Pro have been confirmed, including its upgraded side-mounted front camera.

Yes, similar to the OG Legion Phone Duel, the Legion 2 Pro sports a curious motorized-camera design for selfies, video chat, and game streaming, which, of course, the device is well-equipped to handle. This time, though, the Legion phone sequel is packing a 44-megapixel camera, up from last year’s 20-megapixel shooter. Not only will the higher resolution translate into sharper photos and video, we think it would allow the front-facer to produce brighter, more detailed results in low light courtesy of 4-in-1 pixel binning.

Very few devices on the market boast an equally sharp front-facing camera, let alone when it comes to gaming-focused models like the Lenovo Legion 2 Pro. At the back, the phone will use a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64A image sensor with support for 4K recording at 60 120 fps and 8K video at 30 fps. Measuring 1/1.32 inches, the sensor is particularly large, so we’re hopeful it will be able to snap detailed-looking images with nice colors and deep shadow detail.

Lenovo previously confirmed that the Legion 2 Pro will get a giant 6.92-inch FHD+ flat AMOLED screen with support for up to 144Hz and 720Hz touch sampling. You might recall that last year’s model was also a 1080p, 144Hz affair, but the screen was considerably smaller at 6.65 inches.

Predictably, the upcoming gaming phone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 with up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of native storage. It is said to likewise come in 12GB/128GB and 12GB/256GB variants in China. According to an alleged screenshot, the 16GB RAM model managed to achieve a total score of 962,155 points in Master Lu benchmark tests.

The company also shared a teaser of the device’s dual-fan cooling system, which will feature twin-turbo fans that can work in tandem to keep the internals running at optimal temperatures. The Lenovo Legion 2 Pro will have a custom liquid-cooling chamber between the fans as well to draw heat away from the processor.

The battery capacity of the device has been bumped up to 5,500mAh from 5,000mAh in its predecessor. There’s still support for 90-watt fast wired charging, and Lenovo claims that the battery will retain 85% of its original capacity even after 1,200 charge cycles thanks to an improved charging algorithm.
