Realme has added a new member to the X7 series, a lineup that was first introduced in China with the launch of the X7 and X7 Pro.

The Realme X7 Pro Extreme Edition, otherwise known as the Realme X7 Pro Ultra, has popped up on the brand’s website in China with price tags that won’t break the bank. We’re talking ¥2,399 (around P17,749 in Philippine pesos or $366 in U.S. dollars) for the 8GB/128GB model and ¥2,699 (P19,969 or $411) for the unit with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

But while we think of the words “extreme” and “ultra” to be far more superior than “pro,” the latest model is actually not; it’s the middle child of the three X7 series phones. Yes, like the Realme X7 Pro, whose 8GB/128GB version was priced at ¥2,499 (P18,488 or $381) at launch, it’s still powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ 5G chip. Yes, it still has a 32-megapixel selfie camera, a 4,500mAh battery that supports a maximum of 65-watt fast charging via USB-C, liquid cooling, support for NFC, stereo speakers, and Dolby Atmos sound capability.

However, the 6.55-inch Super AMOLED screen’s 120Hz refresh rate on the Pro model has been downgraded to 90Hz — though the touch-sampling rate has gone from 240Hz to 360Hz. There are three rear cameras, not four, this time: a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 main sensor paired with 8-megapixel ultra-wide and 2-megapixel macro lenses. But you’d be glad to know that the Realme X7 Pro Extreme Edition comes with Android 11 out of the box.

The Realme X7 Pro Extreme Edition’s other color variant

Now, if you found the “Dare to Leap” slogan slapped on the back of last year’s Pro variant a bit big to your liking, the one on the Extreme Edition is smaller and is now placed right under the camera module. The display gets a curved treatment as well; recall that the regular X7 Pro has a flat screen.
