Though quite late to the party, the Lenovo S5 Pro launched in the Philippines last year with a compelling P6,990 (around $146 converted) price tag, making it one of the most affordable Snapdragon 600 series-based devices to arrive in the country.
Now, it’s even more affordable, thanks to Lenovo Philippines’ current sale event at the company’s brand store on Lazada, where customers can get the base S5 Pro for as low as P4,999 ($104). The 128GB storage model, which has double the storage capacity, is listed at P6,490 ($135).
Those are pretty decent prices considering the Lenovo S5 Pro sees a 14nm octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset mated to Adreno 509 graphics and 6GB RAM. The sale expires January 17, or until supplies last. Besides the S5 Pro, you can also buy the Snapdragon 636-powered K5 Pro at a discounted price of P5,999 ($125) for a limited time from Lenovo’s local Lazada brand store.
Lenovo Philippines’ announcement
Granted, the Snapdragon 636 is older and slower than the popular Snapdragon 665, but the S5 Pro has other highlights, including a 6.2-inch FHD+ LCD screen and dual front-facing cameras with 20- and 8-megapixel sensors.
The front panel is equipped with an infrared sensor inside the iPhone-like notch for quick and reliable face unlock. On the back, the Lenovo S5 Pro features dual cameras — the primary camera is also 20 megapixels, while the secondary option is 12 megapixels. In all, the S5 Pro boasts four independent cameras, which is more than what most budget phones today offer.
The 3,500mAh battery is admittedly a little bit concerning, but the phone does come with 18-watt fast charging over a USB-C port. There’s also a physical fingerprint scanner at the back.
