Well, well, well. After a series of sale announcements, Samsung Philippines looks like it’s going to launch a handset soon — and it happens to be the company’s cheapest 5G phone yet.
(Update, November 27: Look! –> Samsung Galaxy A42 5G now available in the Philippines.)
After a search of unreleased Samsung models in the country, we at Revü finally stumbled upon the Samsung Galaxy A42 5G‘s support pages, complete with user manual, on the local website of the manufacturer.
There are six model numbers listed there, and we’re guessing they stand for the three color variants and three memory configurations available for the smartphone. In case you didn’t know, the A42 5G comes in Prism Dot Black, Prism Dot White, and Prism Dot Gray shades and in 4G/128GB, 6GB/128GB, and 8GB/128GB versions.
In Singapore, where the unit with 8GB of RAM was released yesterday, November 21, the Samsung Galaxy A42 5G is priced at S$498. That’s around P17,881 in Philippine pesos. Locally, it will probably be offered with a postpaid plan through Smart Communications or Globe Telecom — or both — as well. The two telcos are busy rolling out their respective 5G networks.

This Galaxy is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750, the same chip that debuted on the Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite. It features a Super AMOLED screen measuring 6.6 inches, a 48-megapixel quad camera on the back, a 20-megapixel selfie shooter, and a 5,000mAh battery with support for up to 15 watts of adaptive fast charging. The rear panel shows off a multi-layer pattern, with each section getting a different gradient.
We’re curious to see how the Samsung Galaxy A42 5G is going to be priced in the Philippines, so bet on us closely following the Korean technology giant’s updates on it.
