A new Vivo Y series phone is being sold in places like Hong Kong, Bahrain, Jordan, and Vietnam, and we have a feeling it may arrive in the Philippines, too. Meet the Vivo Y12s.

In neighboring country Vietnam, the budget handset’s variant with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage is priced at ₫3,290,000 (around P6,852 or $142 converted). The 4GB/128GB model, on the other hand, is retailing at ₫4,290,000 (P8,934 or $185).
If there’s one thing we immediately noticed about the Vivo Y12s, it’s that it looks like the Vivo Y20i. But instead of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 inside, it has a MediaTek Helio P35, the same chip that powers devices like the Vivo Y30 and OPPO A31.

But the smartphone does share some of the Y20i’s features, including a 5,000mAh battery, a 13-megapixel dual camera on the back, an 8-megapixel selfie shooter inside a waterdrop notch, a fingerprint sensor on the side, and face unlock.
The most recent Vivo release in the Philippines is the V20 series, so maybe it’s indeed time for one of the local top phone vendors to launch a Y series unit. If our guess is right, expect the Vivo Y12s to be priced under P10,000 (under $208).
