Huawei announced a couple of new products at its developer conference earlier this month, including the Huawei Watch Fit, a rectangular smartwatch that looks more like a big-screened fitness tracker than a traditional watch. A stylish one, we’d like to emphasize.
(Update, September 18: Our review of the Huawei Watch Fit is up!)
Huawei Watch Fit unboxed
The Watch Fit costs €129 in Europe, which translates to roughly P7,360 or $152 in U.S. dollars, but in the Philippines, where price is usually a deciding factor, it will sell for P4,999 (around $103) only. This not only makes it the most affordable smartwatch in Huawei’s stable at launch, but also one of the cheapest feature-packed devices of its kind on the local market.
The Huawei Watch Fit will be available for pre-purchase at the company’s official store on Lazada and Shopee from September 18 to September 22, with those who’ll preorder getting these freebies worth a total of P2,380 ($49): Huawei Band 4e and Nova speaker. It should hit more retailers, including Huawei’s soon-to-be-launched online store.
Huawei describes the Watch Fit as a private trainer on your wrist and comes with a bright 1.64-inch AMOLED screen with always-on functionality and a 70% screen-to-body ratio.
Like other Huawei watches, it runs on the company’s proprietary LiteOS and highlights several fitness-centric features, such as animated workout routines that show up on the screen, 5 ATM water resistance, 96 workout modes, and a blood-oxygen monitor. Perhaps more crucially, the company claims the Watch Fit will offer 10 days of normal usage on a single charge.
We’ll be back with our full review of the Huawei Watch Fit, so stay tuned to find out what we think of the new fitness wearable. In the meantime, check out the full specs of the Watch Fit below.
