Our money is that the company’s local arm will finally reveal the price and availability of the Redmi phone, which launched for international markets last month. The Redmi Note 9S finds itself as the middle child of the series, following the global announcement of the Redmi Note 9 and Redmi Note 9 Pro yesterday, April 30.

The base unit of the Redmi Note 9S with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage is priced at $249 (about P12,588 when converted), while the 6GB/128GB model will run you $279 (P14,105). The three color variants available are Aurora Blue, Interstellar Gray, and Glacier White.
We were told in March by Xiaomi Philippines marketing manager Ava Castillo that the reveal of the phone’s domestic pricing and availability was up in the air because of strict quarantine measures in the Philippines that forced malls and shops to close and cease operations to curb the spread of the COVID-19 disease.
But now that the government is looking to ease the country out of lockdown, it seems that Xiaomi will be taking the opportunity to make the latest Redmi available, at least online. Oh, and here’s a reminder that the company has partnered with Cutting Edge Online Store, too.
In case you need a refresher, the Redmi Note 9S boasts a 48-megapixel quad-lens camera setup, as well as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor mated to Adreno 618 graphics, which delivers up to 40% faster performance versus the previous generation. The two-day battery is massive, rated at 5,020mAh, and supports 18-watt fast charging out of the box using the included USB-C charger.

The LCD screen is 6.67 inches with FHD+ resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top for added protection against daily wear and tear. It has a small punch hole, too, for the 16-megapixel selfie camera.
The Redmi Note 9S will ship with MIUI 11 based on Android 10. Like many other modern Redmi devices, it should be eligible for Xiaomi’s MIUI 12 software update as well.
