Huawei recently took the wraps off another budget phone for the local market. The Huawei Y7p is out now in the Philippines with a retail price of P9,990 or roughly $197.

Pixel binning combines the data from four pixels to produce a single larger pixel with more information, and therefore greater brightness, detail, and dynamic range.

The other rear camera of the Huawei Y7p incorporates a depth sensor that adds background blur to your images, which can make them appear more dramatic, more suitable for posting on social media. With Huawei’s latest budget unit, you don’t need an expensive dedicated camera to take Instagram-worthy pics that your followers will love.
The Y7p’s cameras also support Huawei’s AI Scene Recognition, which can identify more than 500 scenes across 21 categories, including food, pet, and sunset. This feature will try to match the right settings for the camera to produce the perfect shot for the current scenario.
No-notch, all-screen front design
The Huawei Y7p sports a 6.39-inch LCD screen with a punch hole on the top-left side to house the selfie camera. Impressively, the cutout for the camera is just 4.5mm wide, making it one of the tiniest in the industry. Further, Huawei’s punch-hole solution requires more advanced manufacturing technologies to produce and is only 0.1mm deep compared to traditional in-screen cutouts that completely go through the screen.

GPU Turbo 3.0 also cuts down on chipset power consumption by up to 10% depending on what you’re playing. The list of supported titles includes Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, PUBG Mobile, Fortnite, Minecraft, and Real Racing 3. That said, if you are even a little bit into playing games on your smartphone, the Huawei Y7p certainly won’t disappoint with its gaming-focused specs and features.
Another thing that stands out is the Y7p’s rather generous 64GB of internal storage that can be further expanded up to 512GB using a microSD card. No need for midday charging
The Huawei Y7p comes with a 4,000mAh battery, which, in our review, we generally praised for its longevity. Huawei quotes up to 47 hours of talk time; 22 hours of video playback; 20 hours of web browsing on an LTE network; or 111 hours of music playback on a single charge.
We found that the 4,000mAh cell will easily make it through a day without charging, and it can probably survive the second day if it isn’t heavily taxed by games, LTE data, or a full-brightness setting. Plus, Huawei’s EMUI software with AI power-saving technology handles battery management exceptionally well, so you don’t have to worry about apps in the background hurting performance and battery life.
