Samsung Electronics Philippines has unpacked the three smartphones that will slug it out with the likes of the Apple iPhones and Huawei P lineup in the premium segment.
And their highlight? It’s the new camera system. The Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus, and Galaxy S20 Ultra are claimed to “change the way people capture.” All three devices feature a large image sensor — one that goes as big as 108 megapixels and is designed to produce higher-quality pictures at a quarter of the advertised resolution.

Then there’s Space Zoom technology, which lets you take photos from afar. The top-end Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, in particular, now holds the record of sporting a camera with the highest hybrid-zoom capability. 50x? 65x? Nah, try 100x.
The S20 series’ Single Take function, on the other hand, relies on artificial intelligence to determine which camera modes to use to capture one moment, depending on the scene and environment.
There’s something new in the videography department as well. The Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus, and Galaxy S20 Ultra can all shoot in 8K. You can stream the video to a 2019 or 2020 Samsung QLED 8K TV or grab a still from it and save it as a high-resolution photo.
In front is a 40-megapixel selfie camera on the Ultra and a 10-megapixel one on the other two smartphones.
Non-camera features
The Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus, and Galaxy S20 Ultra Android 10 handsets are all powered by either the the company’s own Exynos 990 or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865, depending on the region. Here in the Philippines, we always get the Exynos model.
The processor is paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 1TB using a microSD card.

The Dynamic AMOLED 2.0 screen of the lineup goes as big as 6.9 inches. All three are Infinity O displays, with the cutout serving as home to the selfie camera. With a refresh rate of 120Hz, you get to experience smooth gaming.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra’s 5,000mAh battery and Galaxy S20’s and Galaxy S20 Plus’ 4,500mAh cell support fast charging up to 45 watts.
