Samsung‘s Unpacked event is where the Korean technology company unveils its Galaxy S series of flagship smartphones. And although there’s no official word yet on when Unpacked 2020 will take place, we already have a good idea through an unlisted video posted by Samsung Korea.
(Update, February 5: Preorder info is up in the Philippines! See Samsung Galaxy S20 series: PH preorder details.)
(Update, January 5: We replaced the word “likely” with “is” in the title; Samsung has already confirmed that the launch is indeed happening February 11th.)
We also think that besides the upcoming Galaxy S11 lineup — now rumored to be the Samsung Galaxy S20 series — the event might also feature a new Galaxy Fold foldable phone.

The video, which was published on Samsung’s Vimeo account, shows two squares in the word “Galaxy.” The left square is said to resemble the camera system on the back of the rumored Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, while the square on the right might be teasing the clamshell design of a Galaxy Fold handset.
This foldable has previously been leaked in several live images. There’s talk the Motorola RAZR-lookalike will be equipped with a 108-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL Bright HMX camera sensor and a dedicated telephoto shooter capable of up to 5x optical zoom. It could cost under $1,000 or about P51,192, which would make it cheaper and much more marketable than the original Fold.
As for the top-of-the-line Galaxy S20 handset, the latest rumors suggest it might have a curved OLED screen and a punch hole for the front-facing camera, just like in previous years. In the camera department, the S20 Ultra is said to pack as many as five cameras on the back and will likely include Samsung’s 108-megapixel sensor in its main unit.
The S20 lineup, which includes the Samsung Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20 Plus as well, will allegedly launch with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 and Samsung Exynos 990, depending on the region.
Finally, there’s the date. The video ends with a date for Unpacked 2020. The date to remember is February 11, 2020, or close to two weeks before the Mobile World Congress or MWC trade show kicks off in Barcelona, Spain. Interesting times ahead!
