Back in August 2019, Vivo, Xiaomi, and OPPO announced a partnership called the Inter-Transfer Alliance Group, which is now called Peer-to-Peer Transmission Alliance. It will enable their devices to have an AirDrop-like file-transfer feature for wireless and seamless sharing of data at high speeds.
After months of beta testing and consumer feedback, the technology is finally ready for a global rollout. The date has not been set by all the companies involved; only Vivo has come out and said it will be available on its devices starting February 2020.

But its release will be timed with the expansion of 5G networks across the world. The group welcomes other brands to join the ecosystem.

Users can expect average transfer speeds of up to 20MB per second, meaning it should make pretty quick work of 1080p videos and high-resolution photos.

As for other Android users, Google is working on a file-sharing feature that will bring the same benefits as OPPO, Vivo, and Xiaomi’s newly announced technology. It will also use Bluetooth and WiFi to allow for quick file transfers.
