Realme‘s first 5G smartphone has been teased for a while now. However, the OPPO offshoot hasn’t announced the launch date — until today, December 24, that is.
Realme and Qualcomm have both revealed on Chinese social media platform Weibo that the Realme X50 5G is going to be officially unveiled January 7 in Beijing.
The device is powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 765G — a chip so new that only Xiaomi’s Redmi K30 is the only handset that uses it thus far. Priced starting at ¥1,999 (around P14,498 or $285), the latter is the cheapest 5G phone to date, so it should be interesting to see how Realme is going to price the X50.

Word has it that the Realme X50 5G sports four cameras on the back. The main one is a 60-megapixel sensor from Sony, and it’s supposed to be paired with 8-megapixel ultra-wide, 2-megapixel depth, and 2-megapixel macro sensors.
The front, on the other hand, reportedly features 32-megapixel and 8-megapixel selfie cameras housed in a pill-shaped cutout on the upper-left side of the screen.

The display is said to be AMOLED, measures 6.44 inches, and has a 90Hz refresh rate. The battery is rated at 4,500mAh and supports Super VOOC 4.0 Flash Charge technology. And the highest memory configuration is supposedly 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
There’s a rumor that the Realme X50 5G will be joined by a “Lite” model, but considering that a lot of leaks have proven to be wrong, just take that with a grain of salt.
