We were so focused on smartphones at the global launch of the Huawei P30 and Mate 30 series that we didn’t get to see the smart products introduced alongside the flagships.

Thankfully, at the “The Showroom: Tech Meets Fashion” salon held a day after the Huawei APAC Developer Day in Singapore, two of the devices showcased were the FreeBuds 3 and the Huawei x Gentle Monster eyewear.
The glasses won’t be available in the Philippines, as the Korean brand has no presence in the country, a local executive said. But the wireless earbuds? Expect it to arrive in the Philippines, another company official told us.

Huawei FreeBuds 3
The FreeBuds 3 is Huawei’s answer to Apple’s AirPods. It is powered by the manufacturer’s Kirin A1, which is the world’s first dual-mode Bluetooth 5.1 chipset for faster and more stable connection; boasts a 356MHz audio processor; and uses a transmission technology called Isochronous Dual Channel, which aims to reduce latency for accurate audio and video synchronization while gaming or watching videos.
Active-noise cancellation reduces background noise while listening to music. An integrated bone sensor supposedly makes voices sound more natural during phone calls. And an aerodynamic mic duct design reduces wind noise.

The Huawei FreeBuds 3 can last four hours on a single charge and up to 20 hours when used together with its charging case.
Available in Ceramic White and Carbon Black, this FreeBuds looks good. And it definitely doesn’t hurt that its open-fit design — referred to as Dolphin Bionic — makes it comfortable to wear.
Huawei x Gentle Monster eyewear
This is not just your elegant-looking everyday pair of glasses. It’s water- and dust-resistant with an IP67 rating. And if you connect it to your smartphone, you can answer calls and access voice assistant by tapping the temple, where there are dual semi-open speakers for that solid stereo sound and intelligent noise reduction.

One charge lets you use it for close to three hours, but if you place it in the leather case that doubles as a wireless charger, the Huawei x Gentle Monster eyewear can last for around eight hours in total.
There are four models, but it seems that only two — the Smart Eastmoon and Smart Jackbye — will be sold in Singapore.
Huawei ecosystem
One thing is clear: Huawei is pushing for an ecosystem of devices that connect to each other now more than ever. And for that to happen, it needs to attract developers to Huawei Mobile Services, which is currently what’s on the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro.
With the large number of Huawei and Honor product users worldwide and a $1-billion Shining-Star Program, it’s in a good position to do so.
