Upgraded Huawei MateBook 13 up for preorder in PH

The Huawei MateBook 13 gets a performance boost with new models available for preorder in the Philippines.

The 8th-gen Intel Core i5 and Core i7 models now have the Nvidia GeForce MX250 in the package. The i5 model retails for P59,990 (around $1,189), while the i7 model has a suggested retail price of P69,990 (around $1,387).

The sleek and slim laptop is available for preorder until today, November 8, over at Silicon Valley (check out the list of stores here). You get freebies like a Huawei Bluetooth mouse, a backpack, and Microsoft Office 365 Personal worth P2,840 ($56).

You can avail yourself of 0% interest plans for up to 24 months from banks like BPI, Citibank, PNB, UnionBank, and HSBC. You’ll pay at least P2,499.60 ($49) per month for the MateBook 13.

Nvidia’s line of mobile graphics processors is designed to help boost the lackluster performance of Intel’s integrated graphics. The MX250 promises performance that’s 3.5x faster than integrated graphics as well as the right balance between long battery life and performance.

While it is considered a modest upgrade from the MX150, it is faster than Intel’s integrated graphics. And for some games, CNET describes it as tipping “your system over the line between ‘can’t run it’ and “at least meets the minimum requirements.'”

If you’re working with OpenGL-supporting graphics work — which includes working with simple 3D models, using complex filters, or working on a low-res video — there is some performance boost there.

The Huawei MateBook 13 gives off the appearance of a slimmer yet more powerful Apple MacBook Air. The laptop is only available in Space Gray, and it comes with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage.
