The newly launched OPPO Reno Ace Gundam Edition — announced to commemorate the company’s 40th anniversary — is now available for preorder in China, with release scheduled for November 11.
Unfortunately, we have to break some Gundam fans’ hearts here, as OPPO Philippines told us at the Reno and Reno 2 embargo event in Antipolo, Rizal, that the device will not go on sale in the country.

We’re writing about this because many of you have been hounding us about the special edition handset’s local availability. So here it is once and for all — unless OPPO will change or has changed its mind.
This development comes after its decision to discontinue the OPPO F series to focus on the A lineup.

In China, the OPPO Reno Ace Gundam Edition is priced at ¥3,599 (around P26,030 or $508). It has a customized, Gundam-inspired look, and it can be used with the new Unicorn Gundam C1 gamepad. Retailing at ¥299 (P2,162 or $42), the exclusive accessory will also go on sale in China on November 11.
Besides the new design, the smartphone will have less RAM than the standard version at 8GB instead of 12GB.
Everything else will be the same as the regular Reno Ace variant, though, which means the same 6.5-inch Full HD+ display with 20:9 aspect ratio, 90Hz refresh rate, and 2,400 x 1,080 resolution; Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus processor; 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage; and 4,000mAh battery with 65W SuperVOOC Flash Charge technology.

The OPPO Reno Ace Gundam Edition also packs in a quad-camera setup on the back with a primary 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor with an f/1.8 aperture; a 13-megapixel telephoto lens with 5x hybrid zoom; an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera; and a macro lens with a 2-megapixel sensor. The selfie camera is a 16-megapixel shooter housed inside a waterdrop notch.
This collaboration isn’t OPPO’s first. The Shenzhen-based company previously brought the OPPO F11 Pro Avengers Limited Edition into the country.
