Samsung Philippines has new A series midrange phones in town, and both are likely to be an interesting presence in their segment. The company today announced the Samsung Galaxy A30s and Galaxy A50s for the local market.
As you may have gathered, both phones are iterative upgrades to the Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50 devices that arrived here in March.
In the Philippines, the Galaxy A30s and Galaxy A50s will retail at P12,990 (about $249) and P18,990 ($364), respectively, with sales expected to start September 28. If you preorder the higher-end model any time between September 13 and 27, you get a free Samsung Galaxy Fit e2 wearable.

Just to give you an idea how the front and back look
Talking about key upgrades, the Samsung Galaxy A30s gains an in-screen fingerprint reader and a third camera to go with its standard and ultra-wide-angle cameras. The Samsung Galaxy A50s, on the other hand, is getting refreshed with a 48-megapixel camera with f/2.0 lens.

The former drops the resolution to 720p from full HD, though. You’ll probably notice this downgrade on the A30s’ 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display, which is pretty big, even compared with those of contemporary midrange handsets. The A50s is 6.4 inches, too, although the resolution is 2,340 x 1,080, unchanged from its predecessor.

Besides a triple-camera array and a Super AMOLED screen, both phones also share a waterdrop notch, a 4,000mAh battery with 15-watt wired fast charging over USB-C, and Samsung’s One UI based on Android Pie.
Covering most specs, here’s a comparison between the Samsung Galaxy A30s and Galaxy A50s.
