A report from IHS Markit Technology indicates that the Apple iPhone XR was the bestselling smartphone in the first half of 2019, with shipments pegged at 26.9 million units worldwide. Its successor, the newly announced iPhone 11, could prove to be even more attractive — and therefore higher selling than the last year’s popular, lower-cost iPhone.

Apple iPhone 11 release date, price, and color options

The iPhone 11 will hit stores September 20th in select countries including the U.S., priced at $699 (around P36,383) for the 64GB storage option. It’s $50 (P2,603) cheaper than the iPhone XR at launch.

However, if you want something cheaper, you may want to consider the iPhone 8 and iPhone XR, which now cost $150 (P7,808) less. The base models of the iPhone 8 and iPhone XR are down to $449 (P23,371) and $599 (P31,178), respectively. At the same time, Apple has discontinued the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max, so don’t expect to find many of them at official Apple retail channels.

Your color options include black, green, purple, red, white, and yellow. The previous blue and coral colors of the iPhone XR are no longer available.

Apple iPhone 11 specs and features

The big upgrade this year is the camera system. The iPhone 11 arrives with two cameras on the back with the addition of a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera that lets you pull back to see more of a scene, something most modern midrange and high-end Android phones are already capable of. Nonetheless, this should come handy when shooting landscapes, cityscapes, interiors, and group photos. The main camera is 12 megapixels as well.

Apple is also introducing a new software interface to go with the hardware, which will let you see outside the frame. The front-facing camera has been upgraded to 12 megapixels, and can shoot 4K video and 1080p slo-mo at 120 frames per second.

Besides the second rear camera, the iPhone 11 also gets the same Apple A13 Bionic found in the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. Apple says the 7nm chip boasts the “fastest” CPU and GPU ever in a smartphone. The latest iPhone also adds stronger glass on top of its 6.1-inch LCD, improved Face ID that works while laying flat, and an hour of more battery life compared to the iPhone XR.

Unfortunately, there’s no fast-charging power brick in the box with the iPhone 11 as there is with the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max.
