We exclusively reported earlier this month that the new Honor 9X and Honor 9X Pro could be coming to the Philippines soon after a moderator of the brand’s Facebook group in the country shared a teaser image hinting at the duo’s local launch.

As it turns out, the Huawei sub-brand will indeed be bringing the Honor 9X to the market this year. We’re not sure about the Honor 9X Pro; it’s not clear at this stage. But the Honor 9X’s local release was confirmed to Revü at a media roundtable with Honor Asia Pacific president Yiwei Ou.

The Honor 9X series features a pop-up camera — a first in the brand’s smartphone portfolio — and an almost-bezel-less, full-screen design with an LCD display and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor similar to the Honor 20’s. They also share a distinguishable “X” pattern on the back and a 4,000mAh battery with support for fast charging at 10 watts via USB-C.

Further, the 9X duo are the first Honor devices to pack Huawei’s new Kirin 810 chipset, which is said to be faster than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730.

For taking pictures, Honor has equipped the 9X with a dual-camera setup, while the higher-end 9X Pro gets triple rear cameras. Both camera systems are headlined by a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor, the same spec in the camera unit of the Huawei Nova 5T, OPPO Reno 10X Zoom Edition, and OnePlus 7 Pro, among many other premium handsets.

You can already buy both devices in China. The Honor 9X starts at ¥1,399 (about P10,224 or $195) for 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, whereas the 8GB/128GB configuration of the Honor 9X Pro is priced at ¥2,199 (P16,070 or $307).
